Recovering damaged, or deleted files from external digital media connected to your computer is in many ways easier than recovering lost files from your computer’s internal hard drive. There are many reasons for this. When attempting to recover files that have been deleted by emptying your Windows recycle bin you will quickly discover that once a file has been placed in the Windows recycle bin and subsequently emptied it is no longer in its original location on your computer’s hard drive. In fact, files emptied from the Windows recycle bin are moved and renamed with a hash like number. Another difficulty factor when recovering files from your hard drive as opposed to attempting to recover files from SD card storage is that the very act of downloading the data recovery tool onto your computer’s hard drive can easily result in overwriting and destroying permanently those files you wish to recover.

When attempting to recover files from USB drive related storage those files are never at risk. To recover files from flash card media, SD cards and USB drive accessed storage, you need only download and install a quality data recovery tool from Remo software and direct that software to scan through any digital media device connected to your computer.

You might be amazed to learn how ineffective many popular data recovery tools are. A huge percentage of the available data recovery tools are simply glorified search functions that have been set up to look over digital storage media such as an internal computer hard drive or a USB compact flash drive and attempt to locate the text used for file extensions. Many of these low quality file recovery tools are so inefficient that they are unable to return the original file name with the file data and as such merely give you a list of files that are numbered.

Imagine attempting to find a single file out of the average 250,000 files used on a computer’s internal hard drive without at least having the name of the file listed somewhere. To recover files from hard drive disks that have been accidentally deleted or to recover files after formatting due to reinstallation of Windows you need powerful third party data recovery tools such as those offered by Remo software.

If any person or advertisement tells you that they have a program which will recover Mac files along with Windows files you may immediately assume that the program they have is worthless. The process needed to recover deleted Mac data or to recover Mac trash files is completely different than that used to recover files lost, damaged or deleted from Windows based PCs.

Recovery of files on Windows computers is a fairly straightforward process with the most difficult aspect being to access and recover files from a crashed hard drive. This holds true also for recovery of files of Mac computers with the additional difficulty factor added of the Mac disk initialization and Mac disk verification processes. Before the Mac Computer using the Mac OS X operating system will allow you access to any file on its internal hard drive it must run these two checks of the hard drive directory system to ensure that they are working perfectly. Basically this means that any sector of that drive has failed access to the entire drive is denied. Quality programs to recover Mac files are able to leapfrog this specific part of the application and directly reach the stored file information. This allows you to copy your files to a safe location and then reinstall your Mac OS X system.

There are many instances when one may need to recover deleted files. The primary and most common reason that one finds himself attempting to recover files is simply due to accidental deletion of files and folders. This can happen in several ways. Usually when we delete a file it goes into the Windows recycle bin. Files can remain in the recycle bin indefinitely or until we choose to restore them or empty the bin. Once we empty the Windows recycle bin, those files are permanently deleted. Furthermore the process to recover them is a little difficult. Emptied recycle bin files are no longer in their regional folder and as such cannot be found with a basic data recovery search.

Programs for data recovery such as those offered by Remo Software have special functions built into them so as to allow one to target through presort application files emptied from the Windows recycle bin in their new location. Of course, when we delete files from external connected devices such as a USB flash drive, those files do not pass through the Windows recycle bin and are directly deleted. The Remo Software program for data recovery handles recovery of these files just as easily.

There are two ways to deal with problems cause by a crashed computer internal hard drive. The first is to use some of the better data recovery tools to immediately open that hard drive and copy from it all of its contents. In order to do so, many data recovery tools require you to connect your hard drive directly to a second working PC by means of cables. You can then use this working computer in conjunction with a data recovery tool which you will need to have loaded onto the working PC to search through your failed computer hard drive for every existing and recently deleted file. This is the preferable technique, as you won’t have to recover deleted files after format steps have been taken.

Barring the ability to do this, one must first put their computer into operation by reloading their Windows operating system. Reloading the Windows OS reformats the entire computer hard drive and as a consequence deletes all stored files. One must then undelete those files and restore them to their original structure using a tool for data recovery after reformat.
